孟宗哭竹生筍

孟宗是三國時期吳國的重臣。他自小就非常孝順。有一年冬天，孟宗的母親生病了。她沒有胃口，連續幾天不想吃飯。孟宗見此情景，非常擔心。他對母親說：「媽媽，無論您想吃什麽，我都會給您做。」
他的母親用微弱的聲音說：「我想吃我們屋後山上鮮美的竹筍。」
孟宗驚呆了，因為當時是冬天，根本沒有竹筍。「我該怎麼辦？」他問自己。
孟宗沒了主意，信步走到屋後的山坡上。他站在那裡，嘆了口氣。想到母親躺在床上的難受樣子，他扶著一棵竹子，大聲哭了起來。孟宗的孝心感動了天地。沒過多久，太陽升起，明亮溫暖的陽光融化了積雪。這時，傳來一陣土崩瓦解的聲音，地縫中露出幾根鮮嫩的竹筍。孟宗非常高興，立即摘了一些。他跑回家，煮了一碗竹筍，用勺子餵給母親吃。吃完竹筍後，他的母親奇跡般地康復了。
當時的人們認為竹筍只在春天生長，因為竹筍在土壤上方可見，很容易被挖出來。在孟宗哭竹之後，人們發現，竹筍在土壤深處生長，在冬天也可以找到。
而孟宗哭竹生筍的故事，也在《二十四孝》中成為至孝的傳說，流傳至今。
